HERITAGE BREED COMPARISON CHARTS
The Livestock Conservancy’s breed experts, with the help of individual associations, have assembled a chart for each species on the Conservation Priority List. Key information for choosing breeds includes primary purpose, adult weight, ideal climate and more. Species-specific information such as egg size and color for chickens is also included. A Spanish language Chicken Breed Comparison Chart is also available thanks to translation volunteer Natalie Sandoval of Rancho Sando in Rainbow, Texas.
The charts can be used to narrow the breeds to be researched before learning even more details about each breed with the poultry breed abstracts and the livestock breed abstracts available on this website.
Breed Comparison Charts are available below as pdf documents. Members of The Livestock Conservancy are granted permission to distribute copies of Breed Comparison Charts for educational and breed outreach purposes. For questions about the charts or to secure non-watermarked versions, please call The Livestock Conservancy at (919) 542-5704 or email lodell@livestockconservancy.org.
