Executive Director
About this role
The Livestock Conservancy is hiring an Executive Director with extensive leadership experience in 501(c)(3) non-profits to drive the organization’s strategy, program development, fundraising, membership growth, and daily operations. The Executive Director partners closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and external partners to implement our mission and vision effectively. We’re looking for a seasoned leader with a strong track record managing 501(c)(3) organizations, along with solid business and financial expertise. As the public face of the Conservancy, the Executive Director will embody a genuine passion for conserving heritage livestock and poultry breeds, advancing the movement for local and sustainable agriculture in the United States.
What you will need to succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as 501(c)(3) Non-profit Leadership, Agriculture (animal science, poultry science, or ag communications), or Business.
- Minimum 10 years of full-time experience in 501(c)(3) non-profit leadership.
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, program management, fundraising, and board management within the non-profit sector and a track record of success in achieving organizational goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse constituents, including the Board of Directors, staff, membership, partner organizations, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Experience cultivating a positive workplace culture with a comprehensive approach to policies, procedures, training, development, and recognition to support a productive, engaged team.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation, including long-term planning, mission-driven goal setting, and adapting to changes in the non-profit landscape.
- Proven record of financially sound decision-making skills with intentional practices to remain consistent with organizational goals, member and stakeholder expectations, and available resources.
- Ability to thoughtfully manage organizational risk and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Willingness to adapt to changing conditions and perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field such as Agriculture (animal science, poultry science, or ag communications), Business Administration (MBA), or Public Administration (MPA).
- Agricultural experience with livestock and poultry.
- Knowledge of heritage breeds of livestock and poultry.
- Ability to manage technology infrastructure and information systems to support operations and communications.
Work Site Options and Conditions:
This position is remote with occasional travel. Weekends as needed.
Anticipated Salary and Benefits:
The salary range is $90,000 – $100,000 per year.
The benefits package includes health and vision insurance, paid vacation, and personal leave.
