Barbados blackbelly ram lambs (BBS) from Sweet Sourland Farms.
We have six ram lambs available born April 2025. Price for each is $400, includes CDT vaccinations and Barbados Blackbelly Sheep Association International (BBSAI).registration and transfer of ownership fees. Out-of-state sales require a Certificate of Veterinary inspection, fee paid by the buyer. Pictured are one of our herd sires with a ewe, and 2 ram lambs. More info will be emailed on request.

Barbados blackbelly sheep are a rare heritage breed of Caribbean hair (shedding) sheep, on the Livestock Conservancy Priority List, status Threatened. They are known for parasite resistance, multiple births, good mothering, browsing habits and lean carcass traits, similar to goats. Both sexes are naturally polled (no horns) and do not require shearing, crutching, disbudding or tail docking. We have not had to deworm any of these sheep because of their natural resistance to parasites.

Our foundation rams and ewes were gene tested and selected for scrapie resistance- our 2 rams are RR and ewes either QR or RR on codon 171, and AA on codon 136. All were tested for parasite resistance in July and August 2024, with low FAMACHA scores validated by low fecal egg counts (VT lab)  All are BBSAI registered with the We do checks to weigh, trim hooves, and assess body condition, parasite status and general health of all our animals. All receive annual CDT vaccination, and our farm is registered with the USDA Scrapie prevention program. We keep a closed herd for biosecurity.
